The premise of getting together for thanksgiving is expressing thanks for all the good you have in your life. It is actually a day to thank all your elders and dear ones for everything that they have been given to you. The Thanksgiving Day generally falls on the 4th Thursday of November (26 November). This day is celebrated all over the world with equal fervor and with great enthusiasm. People all over are excited as the day conveys the universal feeling of being thankful to lord almighty for showering his continuous blessings on us. Many celebrate it by throwing a party and inviting all they are thankful to. To them it is a day full of enjoyment and love.

On this day people give thanks with feasting and prayer. Most of us feast with the thanksgiving turkey and pumpkin –pie crown. The day incorporates many of the genial features of the Christmas. It lasts for three days and all enjoy to the fullest. Also, to remember is the fact that the celebration of this day actually started in America and than slowly people all over the world started celebrating it. Though the date of Thanksgiving Day differs in many countries but its purpose for celebration is the same for all. In United States, it is celebrated on 4th Thursday of November while in Canada; it is celebrated on 2nd Monday in the month of October. In India, the day is celebrated with as a religious part and it differs in different countries.

Thanksgiving is usually a family day, celebrated with big dinners and joyous reunions. The very mention of thanksgiving often calls up memories of kitchens and pantries crowded with good things to eat. As it is the day of prayer and rejoicing, all are busy in enjoying the day with their family, friends and delicious meal. This day has great importance we take one day out to thank our God for all he has given to us. The importance of this is also to the fact that we feel grateful to everyone we know. Seeing the value of this day, some companies have adopted the practice of sending Thanksgiving cards to express their gratitude to their customers and business associates. Thanksgiving card may not have been part of history but it is a special way of thanking the people and making them realize that you care their presence.
